https://democraticunderground.com/100220399703Do you remember Richard Ramirez, aka The Night Stalker?
Richard Ramirez, aka The Night Stalker, terrorized Los Angeles with a string of brutal and grisly rapes and murders in the mid eighties. He eluded capture for two years. He was finally caught when he tried it in East L.A. The local folks spotted him, chased him down, beat his ass and held him until the cops showed up
The moral of the story: Don't f*&k with the citizens of Los Angeles. They're a lot tougher than people think they are, especially when they are being threatened.
The circle of life! (Photo heavy, not for the squeamish).
Witness the circle of life with peregrine falcons on the California coast.

I can't enter the contest this month, so here is the photo that I would have entered, titled "Selfie."

***APRIL PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST: THE WINNERS!***
It is with great pleasure that I announce the winners of the April 2025 Photography Contest here on Democratic Underground. The theme this month, chosen by ShazzieB, was “Aspirations! Aspirations are dreams, hopes, or ambitions to achieve a life goal. Synonyms: desire, hope, longing, yearning, wish, aim, ambition, dream.
First place goes to me, Grumpy Old Guy, for my photo “Finding Solitude,” an image of a lone horseman riding atop a mesa in the Navajo Tribal Park at Monument Valley.
Second place goes to HAB911 for their superb image “Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. 02/09/2022." Photos as good as this don’t just happen by accident. I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to read HAB911’s description of the great lengths they went to in order to capture this amazing image. You can find it in reply #39 in the contest thread. Here is a link to that thread. https://democraticunderground.com/100220263975
Third place goes to Kxs and their photo “Desire, hope, longing, yearning…aspiration.” To be honest, as I was running the contest I thought that this was going to be the winner. I voted for this one because I admired both the subject and the artistry of the black and white image.
It’s always fun to run the DU photo contests, even if it is time consuming and a little nerve wracking. Thanks to all who entered, and thanks to all who voted and took time to leave a comment. This was a challenging theme, and we had some great entries.

Good luck everyone. I think this turned out to be a great theme.
